Upper Valley Haven Welcomes Two New Board Members
The Upper Valley Haven is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: Christianne Hardy and Dr. Kathryn Hourdequin. Both bring a deep commitment to service and a wealth of professional experience that will support the Haven’s work in the Upper Valley.
Chris Hardy is an educator and strategist with more than 30 years of experience in higher education and nonprofit leadership. She holds a B.A. in International Studies from the University of Washington and earned her M.A. and Ph.D. in Politics from Princeton University. Her career has spanned teaching at institutions like Fordham, Georgetown, and Dartmouth, as well as leadership roles at the Dickey Center for International Understanding, the Montgomery Fellows Program, and most recently the American Academy in Berlin. Chris brings a thoughtful, mission-driven approach grounded in years of experience building programs and guiding organizations through change.
Dr. Kathryn Hourdequin is a GI oncologist at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where she also leads the GI oncology research group and teaches students and medical professionals. A graduate of Harvard University and Yale Medical School, Kathryn has a long-standing interest in housing insecurity, having volunteered at student-run shelters and clinics throughout her academic career. Since moving to the Upper Valley in 2006, she has remained actively involved in the community while raising three children and supporting a wide range of local youth activities.
“Our Board is thrilled to welcome two new members this April: Chris Hardy and Kathryn Hourdequin,” said Kathy Welling, Board President. “Chris is a senior professional in nonprofit management, skilled in strategic planning, program implementation, and transition planning. Kathryn is a medical professional who cares for medically complex patients and has contributed her time to organizations like the Good Neighbor Clinic. We look forward to having these two accomplished women help us address the challenges facing those who are unhoused and food insecure.”
The Haven is honored to welcome Chris and Kathryn to the Board and looks forward to their leadership and insight as the organization continues to grow and serve thousands of households annually.
