Dear Friends,
Let me begin by saying that this past month—my first at The Haven—has been one of the most impactful months of my life. I have been truly blown away by the strength of this community and the generosity and support I have already experienced. It is a feeling that everyone who walks through the front doors of The Haven encounters. Whether someone is visiting our Community Market, dropping off a donation, or trying to figure out where they will sleep that night, they are met by staff and volunteers who lead with warmth, friendliness, and dignity. Especially at this time of year, that can mean everything.
With winter arriving early and with a vengeance, we are preparing to open the Lebanon Seasonal Shelter on January 3rd. This vital resource sheltered 73 guests last winter, during a time when shelter capacity across the state was extremely limited. This upcoming season will be the final year of the seasonal shelter, as it will be replaced by a new, year-round shelter and resource center currently under construction on North Main Street. This new facility will allow people to achieve greater stability and will significantly expand access to services, including on-site space for community partners to connect directly with individuals.
On December 19th, we gathered for a vigil to remember those we lost in 2025. These clients and guests were members of our community—friends, family members, and people who mattered deeply. It is important that we pause to honor their lives and ensure that those who are too often unseen are not forgotten amid the busyness of our own.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has supported The Haven with their time, resources, and generosity. When SNAP benefits were paused, you showed up in extraordinary ways, allowing us to serve more than 100 individuals every single day through our Community Market. While that challenge has passed, the need has not diminished. Thank you to the individuals, businesses, and partners who continue to believe in our mission and stand with us in this work.
As we move into the new year, I wish you peace, rest, and moments of joy during this special season. Thank you for being part of The Haven community.
Warmly,
Will
