The Upper Valley Haven is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: John Baxter and Qiana Johnson.
John Baxter spent 17 years at SAP, the world’s largest provider of enterprise application software, retiring in 2024 as Global Vice President, Sustainability Product Marketing. He led strategy and communications for the company’s University Alliances and Next-Gen programs, building partnerships with universities around the world for co-innovation and early talent recruitment. Earlier in his career he worked in enterprise software sales and in organizational change consulting at Andersen Consulting. John holds degrees in Civil Engineering from Michigan State University and the University of Michigan, and an MBA with high honors from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business. He currently volunteers in the Haven’s Community Food Market.
Qiana Johnson is an ordained Vocational Deacon at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Hanover. Her day job is Associate Dean of Libraries, Collections and Content Strategies at Dartmouth Libraries, where she oversees the Libraries’ collections budget and supervises four departments spread across two facilities. She spent nearly two decades at Northwestern University Libraries, moving from reference and instruction into collections leadership roles before coming to Dartmouth. She holds an AB in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago and an MLIS from Dominican University, and sits on the boards of the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church and Brent House, the Episcopal Center at the University of Chicago.
“We’re excited to have Qiana and John joining the board, as their experience and perspectives will help guide our agency as we continue to grow and respond to the needs in our area,” said Will Towne, Executive Director.
“I am excited to join the board supporting an organization that has a decades-long history of caring for our neighbors,” said Qiana Johnson.
“As a volunteer, I see the rising needs in our community for food, shelter and resources for independence. I’m deeply grateful to join the Board and help in meeting these needs,” said John Baxter.
The Haven is grateful for the time and expertise John and Qiana are bringing to the Board as the organization continues to serve individuals and families across the Upper Valley.
