Michael Redmond has announced that he will step down as Executive Director of the Upper Valley Haven later this year. He is the fifth leader of the Haven in its 45-year history, beginning his tenure in October 2018. The Upper Valley Haven, a nonprofit organization based in White River Junction, VT, provides shelter to those unhoused, services to help people remain housed, food for the food insecure, community outreach for people experiencing poverty and life challenges, and a children’s program for current and previous shelter residents.
Kathy Welling, president of the Haven Board of Directors commented on this announcement. “Michael has done a masterful job leading the organization as well as expanding the Haven’s opportunities for serving those in need in the Upper Valley. While his accomplishments have been many, the work he has done to prepare for the new Emergency Shelter and Resource Center has been nothing short of remarkable, managing the design and development and overseeing a capital campaign that has raised over $8 million for construction and start-up operations. He also provided strong leadership of the Haven during the pandemic so we could safely continue our services and meet the needs of the community during those challenging times. He will leave the Haven in a strong position, both financial and program operations, ready to continue its role as a leading services organization in the Upper Valley.”
In making his announcement to the Haven staff, Michael commented, “It has been the honor of a lifetime to be the Executive Director of the Haven. This is by far the best job of my career. With our great team and the broad support of the Upper Valley community, we were able to accomplish so much. I will always be extremely grateful for this opportunity.”
