The Upper Valley Haven is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors: John Scott and John Haffner.
John Scott serves as Executive Vice President and CFO at Hypertherm Associates, an employee-owned company and leader in industrial cutting and shaping technology. Before joining Hypertherm, John spent 25 years at W.L. Gore & Associates, based in Newark, Delaware. He holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Delaware and an MBA from Wilmington University, and has spent much of his career not only practicing finance but teaching it. John and his wife Rachel, an elementary special education teacher, live in Hanover, New Hampshire and have three grown daughters. He currently serves on the Board of the Upper Valley Business Alliance.
John Haffner is a regional planner at the Upper Valley Lake Sunapee Regional Planning Commission, with experience in community development, public participation, and civic engagement. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, he earned his doctorate in Geography from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, where his dissertation focused on community participation in transportation infrastructure planning. Earlier in his career he worked in community media and as a researcher and community organizer in Cape Town, South Africa. He also serves on the Hartford Committee on Housing and Homelessness and recently joined the board of Advance Transit. John lives in White River Junction with his wife Laura and their two sons, Harvey and Dexter.
“We are thrilled to welcome John Scott and John Haffner to our Board. John Scott brings real financial expertise and a genuine interest in our work, and John Haffner’s background in community planning and housing makes him a natural fit for the Haven’s mission. We look forward to the perspective and leadership both will bring,” said Kathy Welling, Board President.
The Haven is honored to welcome both Johns to its Board and looks forward to the experience and perspective they will bring as the organization continues to provide support for individuals and families in the Upper Valley.
