Across the Upper Valley, summer has arrived, the black flies have returned and a genuine, positive change is in the air. Our communities are buzzing once again, our farmer’s markets are coming back to life, and the doors of our small businesses re-opening. As we begin a return to a new “normal” we must remember that for many, support is still needed. Assistance with food insecurity, homelessness, and accessing community services is needed now even more than before the pandemic. At the Upper Valley Haven, we rely on donors like you to help us continue to assist the most vulnerable members of our community, some of whom are our neighbors and community members. This is why we are taking part in the 24 hour, NH Gives campaign which starts on June 8th at 5 pm and ends June 9th at 5 pm, to help our efforts to continue to provide services for those across the Upper Valley that are in need.
Why NH Gives is Important to the Upper Valley Haven
The obvious answer is that this is a special, state-wide campaign to help us meet the financial demands of the increased need for our services. There additional compelling reasons why this initiative can be so impactful for the Upper Valley Haven:
- The Upper Valley Haven is the recipient of an extremely generous match from an anonymous donor. Your donation will be doubled until we hit $10,000. This is a huge opportunity for us.
- There is also a $300,000 Site-Wide Match for all organizations! At different time slots throughout the 24-hour campaign, there will be $300K in funds available to match. The matches are spread out across different times and when they are gone, they’re gone. So please consider donating at the below times!
- June 8
- 5:00 PM – $100,000
- 6:00 PM – $20,000
- 7:00 PM – $20,000
- 8:00 PM – $20,000
- 9:00 PM – $20,000
- June 9
- 8:00 AM – $20,000
- 9:00 AM – $20,000
- 12:00 PM – $20,000
- 3:00 PM – $20,000
- 4:00 PM – $40,000
- June 8
- Some fundraising campaigns restrict funding to specific programs. NH Gives however is an unrestricted initiative that allows us to focus on the services that are most in need right now. As seen in the data below from “Tracking the COVID-19 Recession’s Effects on Food, Housing, and Employment Hardships”, our clients experiencing poverty/homeless/food insecurity (who were already struggling before the pandemic) have been impacted more than the average person, creating an increased demand for services. We are asking you to help us meet this demand and help those that have been impacted disproportionately by the epidemic.
What is NH Gives?
NH Gives begins on June 8, 2021, at 5:00 PM and ends on June 9 at 5:00 PM. This statewide campaign helps non-profits across the state come together to amplify their messaging to a wider audience and share in a day of giving.
“Hosted at www.nhgives.org, NH Gives is the state’s largest day-of-giving – bringing together hundreds of nonprofits and tens of thousands of donors to raise as much money and awareness as possible for the causes served by NH’s nonprofit sector. It is 24 hours for Granite Staters to give back to the nonprofits that give so much to our communities every day.”
