About the Upper Valley Haven

Since 1980, the Haven has provided temporary shelter and educational programming for homeless families and adults, as well as food to anyone in need. The Haven offers support and fosters independence through four domains of service: Food, Shelter, Education, and Problem Solving. The Haven is open 365 days per year and never charges for any of its services. We serve over 14,500 people per year.

Position Summary

The Family Programs Supervisor provides leadership, clinical oversight, and program support for services offered to families in shelter and supportive housing. This role supervises Family Services Coordinators, Shelter Staff, Per Diem Staff, and the Children’s Services Program. As a member of the Haven’s Leadership Team, the Supervisor contributes to organizational planning and represents the Haven in the community.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and coaching to program staff
  • Oversee daily operations of family shelter, supportive housing and children’s programs
  • Ensure trauma-informed, mission-aligned service delivery
  • Support program development, documentation, and evaluation
  • Lead or participate in training, hiring, onboarding, and performance reviews
  • Build and maintain community partnerships
  • Participate in a 5-week rotation of on-call coverage (Friday–Friday)

 

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in social work, Psychology, Human Services, or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience supporting families experiencing poverty or homelessness
  • Supervisory experience and strong operational skills
  • Knowledge of mental health, substance use, and trauma-informed care
  • Strong communication and team leadership skills

The Upper Valley Haven is seeking a skilled and compassionate Cook to join our team. In this role, you will prepare nutritious dinners that directly support the health and well-being of our guests. Your culinary expertise will help create a welcoming environment and enhance the quality of life for community members in need.

 

Position Details

  • Temporary role through mid-April
  • Monday–Friday, daytime hours (25–35 hours per week depending on candidate availability)
  • Location: White River Junction with daily meal deliver to Lebanon NH

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • $24–$26/hour, based on experience

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established recipes and dietary guidelines
  • Ensure food safety and sanitation standards are consistently met
  • Assist with meal planning and inventory management of kitchen supplies
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and proper food storage practices

 

Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Prior cooking experience, ideally in a residential or community setting
  • Ability to follow recipes, manage portion control, and accommodate dietary needs
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and kitchen safety procedures
  • Strong time management and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Overview

We are seeking a Service Coordinator in our Family Supportive Housing (FSH) program. The FSH Service Coordinator is an experienced professional who will work intensively with individuals and families who are facing the risk of homelessness or are currently homeless by providing housing case management and coordination of services. The role of the FSH Service Coordinator is to work collaboratively with agencies and community partners to provide resources and support to FSH clients to ensure the acquisition of life skills and access to resources that will lead to permanent housing and a positive quality of life. They establish and maintain positive, supportive relationships and assess the strengths and barriers program participants have for maintaining permanent housing. They provide trauma-informed support consistent with the stage of change and severity of trauma individuals have experienced or are experiencing.

Compensation

This is a full-time position with a salary range of $52,000 to $57,000 depending on education and experience. This position requires occasional visits with families in their homes within the community.

Requirements

Critical to the success of this position are:

  • An understanding of the complexities of poverty and people living in generational or situational poverty
  • Knowledge of family systems and child development and trauma
  • Strong advocacy and crisis-management skills
  • Creativity, flexibility, resiliency, and empathy
  • Ability to work both independently and in collaboration with co-workers and community partners
  • An ability to use a strengths-based approach to build relationships and solve problems
  • Able to manage 12 to 15 clients
  • Strict attention to detail and maintenance of appropriate records
  • Demonstrate the highest ethical standards and maintains confidentiality
  • Must have a valid driver’s license

Qualified applicants will have a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, in Human Services, Social Work, or a related field and have experience working with families with complex needs.

Overview

Unique opportunity to work with the Haven’s dynamic Community Service Coordination team with a focus on individuals and families staying in local hotels. This role has become available due to an internal staff move to another position. The person in this position will eventually be based out of the Haven’s brand-new Leahy Shelter and Resource Center upon its expected opening in August, 2026. We are seeking open-minded, strengths-based candidates who have experience working collaboratively with community partners, have strong interpersonal skills, and are invested in working with adults and families who are experiencing homelessness. In this role, you will build trusting relationships and help our clients access resources to obtain and sustain permanent housing and support them in achieving their goals.

Compensation

This is a full-time, site-based, Monday to Friday position and the salary range is $52,000 to $57,000 depending on education and experience. Some evening hours may be required along with local travel using a work vehicle or personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement.

  • Prior case management experience and/or related internships, volunteer work, or work experience in addition to formal education
  • Knowledge of harm reduction, trauma-informed care, aging, mental health, and substance misuse
  • Relevant certifications in social work, mental health, or crisis intervention a plus
