The Haven’s own Executive Director, Sara Kobylenski, was recently appointed to the Vermont Housing Council by Governor Phil Scott. She will serve through January 2019 alongside other community members and representatives from housing development, planning, and financing entities. Sara’s role is specifically to advocate for the interests of the low-income population in Vermont. She is particularly pleased that the Haven is trusted to communicate the need for housing opportunities for the most vulnerable Vermonters.
The executive order establishing the Vermont Housing Council was passed by Governor Peter Shumlin in 2011. The group was formed to recognize decent and affordable housing as a basic need for the state’s residents and to “coordinate and oversee implementation of the state’s housing policy, to evaluate housing services and initiatives, and to be a resource to housing providers in their efforts to supply decent and affordable housing to Vermonters.”
