Crisis
Call 2-1-1 in Vermont or New Hampshire for assistance 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, or visit vt211.org or 211nh.org. They provide a wide variety of resources and having trained information and referral specialists to help you. This is a great resource outside of the Haven’s business hours.

Food
The federal SNAP (Food Stamps) program in Vermont — can help you put healthy foods on your table every day. Apply one of three ways:
- Online: Complete the online application.
- By Mail: Call 1-800-479-6151 to request a paper application.
- In Person: Apply at your local district office.
WIC is the USDA Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children. WIC gives you access to healthy foods, nutrition education and counseling, and breastfeeding support. If you’re pregnant, a caregiver, or a parent with a child under five, WIC is right for you.
WIC welcomes families at any time. Parents, grandparents, and foster parents may apply for children who are in their care.

LISTEN provides services and support to meet the critical needs of Upper Valley individuals and families. Its programs include Community Dinners at its location in White River Junction and a Food Pantry in Lebanon.

Housing/Shelter

The mission of Lebanon Human Services is to relieve and maintain those in our community who are economically disadvantaged and unable to sustain the basic needs of food, shelter, and emergency medical assistance. Mental Health & Substance Use

Call 9-8-8 to connect with over 200 local crisis centers employed with qualified counselors who are equipped to assist people via call, text, or chat 24 hours a day, 7 days a week across the nation. This Lifeline will provide free and confidential support to people in mental-health related distress or substance use crisis. People who are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support can also dial 988 for aid.

Clara Martin Center is a community based, non-profit organization that provides acute and long-term behavioral health care services. We strive to be consumer-sensitive, cost-effective, and outcome based. Clara Martin Center’s programs serve children and families, and individuals coping with behavioral challenges, emotional stress, mental illness, alcohol and other drug problems. Services are confidential and include, (but are not limited to), counseling, psychiatric services, consultations, short term crisis intervention, education for families related to emotional and behavioral challenges, evaluations, respite care, housing, assistance in obtaining disability benefits, help with finding and keeping employment, outreach and home-based services, alcohol and drug treatment, a walk-in clinic and a 24 hour emergency service system.

West Central Behavioral Health is the nonprofit community mental health care provider for the Upper Valley and Sullivan County, NH, ensuring access to advanced counseling, treatment, and support for people of all ages, regardless of their ability to pay. They provide a full continuum of care, including outpatient, emergency, case management, residential and continuing care services. West Central provides care regardless of ability to pay.

HCRS (Health Care and Rehabilitation Services) offers comprehensive services for adults who are experiencing mental health and/or substance abuse difficulties, including assessment, treatment including individual, group, couples, and family counseling, referral services, and limited psychiatric services. The Children’s Division provides a comprehensive system of care for youth experiencing emotional, behavioral, or substance use difficulties in their life, as well as education and support for family members.
The HCRS Crisis Team provides the highest possible level of emergency mental health care to people in Windsor and Windham Counties. Specially trained mental health professionals are available 24 hours a day for emergencies; calls to the crisis telephone number will get fast results.

Headrest assists those affected by substance use disorder, experiencing a crisis, or in need of support by providing effective programs and treatments. They also offer support to the family members, friends, neighbors and employers of our clients. Headrest’s programs include outpatient treatment and counseling, 24/7 crisis suicide hotline, employee assistance resource program for recovery friendly workplaces, and Headrest Opportunities to Work.

Moms in Recovery is a program for pregnant and parenting women who struggle with substance use. At Moms in Recovery you will meet other women who are working hard to stop using substances and support each other as parents. You will be able to form close relationships with counselors, psychiatrists, midwives, pediatricians, case managers and recovery coaches. These professionals can support you in developing a healthy lifestyle that is rewarding and free from substance use. Services include case management and coordination, group therapy with other mothers and pregnant women, help with depression, anxiety and PTSD symptoms, individual counseling, Intensive Outpatient Program for women only, Medication assisted treatment, including buprenorphine (Suboxone), parenting classes, peer recovery and other services.

WISE leads the Upper Valley to end gender-based violence through survivor-centered advocacy, prevention, education, and mobilization for social change. They provide information and referrals, a safe home and emergency shelter, healthcare advocacy, survivor groups and workshops, forensic interview support, financial advocacy, court and legal advocacy, social service advocacy, safety planning, college campus advocacy, and a family violence prevention specialist program.

Healthcare
The Good Neighbor Health Clinics promote the health of people in the Greater Upper Valley who are in need and who do not have the means to pay, by providing free medical and dental care. Services include diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic health conditions, exams/screening, women’s health, referrals to medical specialists, smoking cessation, diabetes education, vision screening, asthma clinics and education, access to mammograms and pap tests, and continuous case management, monthly diabetes clinics, and regular weight and blood pressure checks for chronic disease managements.

The Family Place works with children and caregivers together, promoting positive parenting strategies and ensuring that children have the kinds of experiences that support their physical development, social functioning, ability to learn, and long-term health. They offer home visits, early intervention for infants and toddlers with developmental delay, nursing services, parenting classes and groups, treatment for families dealing with the trauma of sexual abuse, assistance with child care costs, intensive wrap-around supports for young families in poverty, community playgroups, and more.

Because children don’t come with a “How to Raise Me” guidebook, Waypoint’s Family Resource Centers offer an array of family support services for families with children ages 0-21. Services are designed to help your family through any type of challenge, whether it’s first time parenting, making ends meet, parental substance misuse, housing or employment instability, child wellness, education, or emotional stressors. Services may be provided in the comfort of your family home, or anywhere else you feel comfortable in the community.
Their Warm Line is a free phone-in service where callers can talk confidentially to a family support professional to get help with everything from coping strategies, child behaviors, family dynamics, household management and emotional distress, to gaining access to tools, resources, and services that can help navigate life during challenging times. General Support
The Pathways Vermont Support Line provides confidential, non-judgmental support and connection for all Vermonters over the age of 18 by phone. It’s staffed by local peers who’ve been through tough situations themselves. They listen, talk with you, provide insight, and help you face life’s challenges. Different from a crisis helpline or emergency hotline, the Vermont Support Line is a “warm line”—your go-to support resource that can help prevent a situation from escalating to an emergency.
