This is a difficult time of year for many families, as they juggle additional expenses like heating bills and winter repairs, or the need to stay home from work with a sick child. For parents who struggle to provide for their children’s basic needs, the holidays bring additional financial pressure to buy gifts.
Enter Teddy Arbo’s Holiday Toy Party!
What started as a small dinner party in 1986 has grown into an annual community event in Killington. On December 5, guests gathered for the party, each contributing an unwrapped brand new toy to be given to a child whose family needs a little help this holiday season. Donations were then given to the Upper Valley Haven, the Rutland County Women’s Network & Shelter, the Dodge House and the Rutland Open Door Mission. In all, the Haven received over 1,200 toys and $6,000 in gift cards for local families.
The Haven Through 40 Years
The Haven will commemorate its four decades of service to the region by releasing 40 stories of people, events, ideas, and services fundamental to our mission. We will be releasing these stories weekly, so check back often.
