Sofia has a disabling condition, but that doesn’t stop her from helping others rise above adversity, enjoying life to its fullest and warming the hearts of everyone around her! Sofia Tomek is an inspiring, active and engaged student from the Ray School in Hanover. Sofia learned about the Haven from her school’s food drives and various efforts on our behalf. Sofia had been saving her coins for a year, and when she heard of people’s needs for food and shelter in our community, she asked to bring her savings to us. Pictured here is Sofia with Beth from High Horses Therapeutic Riding Program, and Tom Kersey, Executive Director of New England Handicapped Sports Association. Thank you, Sofia, for giving us the contents of your piggy bank, your visit to us, your contagious smile and inspiration!
The Haven Through 40 Years
The Haven will commemorate its four decades of service to the region by releasing 40 stories of people, events, ideas, and services fundamental to our mission. We will be releasing these stories weekly, so check back often.
