Students in Mrs. Boulbol’s 6th grade class at Sharon Elementary School participated in a special project focused on engaging students in building community and philanthropy. Several local non-profits, including a representative from the Haven, were interviewed by Mrs. Boulbol’s class. After the interviews, students presented information to the school about what they had learned, and then the whole student body voted for the non-profit to which they’d like to make a donation. The Haven was honored to be the recipient of the $700 that the students had available to donate; the students raised $350 on their own, and then Mascoma Savings Bank matched their donation! We at the Haven believe it is never too early to learn to be a contributing community member! We would like to extend a big “thank you” to Mrs. Boulbol’s 6th grade class, Inspiring Kids, and Mascoma Savings Bank for working together to support the Haven!
Inspiring Kids is a youth leadership, community building and philanthropy-focused organization. Organizers work with our local schools to help teach students the importance of community and the significance of non-profits in our local area.
The Haven Through 40 Years
The Haven will commemorate its four decades of service to the region by releasing 40 stories of people, events, ideas, and services fundamental to our mission. We will be releasing these stories weekly, so check back often.
