Community Service Partners

Over the last 35 years, the Haven has built social capital by fostering partnerships with an exceptional number of local and regional organizations. Recently we have taken significant steps forward with partnerships that pool resources and talent so that we can tackle our community’s toughest challenges. One obstacle the Haven has faced over the years is securing shelter and resources for those who have identified themselves, but who the Haven is unable to serve. The Upper Valley community is rich with local and regional organizations, as well as Vermont and New Hampshire state agencies, but they each fill a niche, which poses the threat of the toughest and most complicated needs going unaddressed.  A core group of organizations came together in March 2009 to form the Special Housing Assistance Response Program (SHARP). This group’s goal is to secure housing for those who are hungry, poor and experiencing homelessness (or are precariously housed) in the Upper Valley by forming a close network of related services and professionals. The Haven and the groups listed below collaborate by bringing multi-party, interdisciplinary approaches to tackle poverty’s and homelessness’s toughest cases that defy solution by a single sector. SHARP members include:

• Agency of Human Services, Hartford District
• Central Vermont Community Action Council (CVCAC)
• Southeastern Vermont Community Action (SEVCA)
• VT Department for Children and Families, Office of Economic Services (DCF-ESD)
• Tri-County CAP Homeless Programs
• Listen Community Services
• Lebanon City Welfare Department
• DHMC Psychiatry
• Diana Love Center Family Support Program
• Safeline, Inc. (domestic violence and sexual assault victim services)

In addition to SHARP meetings, the Haven also hosts and chairs the regional Continuum of Care group, which focuses on the most pressing housing issues.

The Haven also connects people with other community services. Partnerships include:
• The Family Place
• Good Neighbor Health Clinic and Red Logan Dental Clinic
• Headrest
• Health Care & Rehabilitative Services
